51st National Day Celebration

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said he hoped that every Malaysian could give importance to solidarity.

In his 51st National Day message; he said united citizens were a bulwark against any threat, either from within or outside the country.

He said solidarity was the cornerstone of the country's political stability, social harmony and economic competitiveness.

Ahmad Ismail didn’t mean it, Abdullah says

Malaysia Prime minister and UMNO President Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will personally see to it that Bukit Bendera UMNO chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail does not repeat his remarks about the Chinese were mere squatters or temporary residents of the nation and therefore, it was impossible to achieve equal rights amongst races in the country.

“I will tell him not to do it again. You know in a campaign all sorts of things can come up. I don’t think he meant it. I’ll make sure to tell him not to use it again,” the Prime Minister said after chairing the Bertam UMNO division meeting yesterday.

Ahmad had allegedly called the Chinese pendatang (immigrants) and was also reported to have said that “as the Chinese were mere squatters or temporary residents of the nation and therefore, it was impossible to achieve equal rights amongst races in the country,” during a ceramah in Permatang Pauh in Aug 25.

He had allegedly uttered the remarks in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Gerakan, a component of the Barisan Nasional (BN), has called for stern action against Bukit Bendera UMNO division head Datuk Ahmad Ismail over his recent “seditious” remarks on the Chinese community.

Gerakan secretary-general Datuk Seri Chia Kwang Chye in a statement said, “Many Malaysians are disappointed with the mild statement by Prime Minister and UMNO resident Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi when commenting on the seditious statement by Datuk Ahmad Ismail.

“They (Malaysians) had expected a strong rebuke, especially on Aug 31, a day all Malaysians celebrated the country’s independence. After 51 years of independence, any further doubt of loyalty of any Malaysian of any ethnic origin and the questioning of citizenship is beyond the understanding of all Malaysians.”

“Ahmad’s statement was outdated and racially provocative, adding that any sign of the Barisan Nasional tolerating any out rightly racist and provocative views would give the wrong signal to the people.”

“Ahmad Ismail should not only retract what he uttered and also apologize to all Malaysians but also be disciplined so as to prevent such divisive statement or action from being repeated. Such archaic views can further divide a multi-ethnic country like Malaysia,” he added.

Gerakan vice-president Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan, in another statement, urged the UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership to review its stance against Ahmad. He called on the police to investigate the matter as the MCA and Gerakan Youth had lodged a police report against Ahmad.

Penang Gerakan Youth committee member Dr Thor Teong Gee lambasted Ahmad and charged that UMNO was still using racial ideology to achieve its own personal political agenda.

Bukit Mertajam MCA division chairman Lau Chiek Tuan called for disciplinary action against Ahmad.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s political secretary Ng Wei Aik also called on Ahmad to immediately retract his statement and apologize to the community.

Meanwhile, Tanjung Gerakan Youth division chief H’ng Khoon Leng lodged a police report at the district police headquarters in Patani Road over Ahmad’s alleged remarks.

MCA Youth chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said there was no reason for Ahmad to stir racial feelings with his remarks.

“This is the Merdeka month and such a racist remark should not have been made,” he added.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said UMNO leaders should stop using racial sentiment to seek support from the people.

Only Anwar can unite DAP

DAP secretary-general and Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng said DAP choose Anwar because it believed that he was the most suitable person to complete the transformation and was a “common choice”.

He is also said to be “widely accepted by everyone in the Opposition”. But is he accepted by the Malay?

A firm DAP 'No' to theocratic state

Although DAP, PAS together with PKR form the Pakatan Rakyat, the country’s most successful opposition alliance so far, but the internal conflicts that cuts across communal and religious lines still persisted and might cause the collapse of the coalition.

The Pakatan won 82 out of the 222 parliamentary seats in the March national polls. De facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has promised to reverse the majority, currently held by the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, to his alliance’s favour and form a new government by Malaysia Day on Sept 16 thus might become the political myth.

The different ideologies of PAS and DAP would be the obstacles for the them to be coexisted inside the Pakatan Rakyat politically. PAS with the depth of its radical Islamism, historical avoidance of anti-system strategies and anti-secularism would deepen the political differences of ideologies.

P
AS, an initial opposition political party, which, persistently and dedicatedly to the formation of an Islamic state. The party's purists, popularly branded as "ulama", are steadfastly committed to the formation of an Islamic state, replete with Shari'a law and the Hudud code of punishments.

Ironically, PAS positions itself as a political party that aims to establish Malaysia as a country based on Islamic legal theory derived from the primary sources of Islam, the Quran, Sunnah as well as Hadiths.

On the contrary, DAP remains firm in its opposition to PAS setting up an Islamic state as any move in that direction would be unconstitutional. More precisely, DAP will not compromise with PAS over the latter's moves to establish an Islamic state.

PAS with its Islamic credentials and push for the establishment of an Islamic state cost the party lost a lot of support among the non-Muslims that unable to quell the fears of non-Muslims.

In the opening speech at the DAP 2008 congress, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng reiterated his party would reject any proposal to turn the country into a theocratic state, whether Islamic or Christian, fuelling speculation it will just be a matter of time before the Chinese-dominated party hits the collision course with coalition partner and Islamic hardliner PAS.

“Any proposal to turn Malaysia into a theocratic state whether an Islamic or a Christian state is contrary to our vision of a civil society that is multi-cultural and multi-religious. Further, it violates the Federal Constitution that is based on civil laws (and not on religious ones).”

Lim denied his speech was intended to provoke PAS, which has constantly voiced its intention of transforming Malaysia into an Islamic state, should it come to power in the future.

“We have no other intentions; we must abide by the four principles that have been the basis of our unity in Pakatan Rakyat. If we do not understand this, Pakatan will collapse.”

In addressing these questions, the contrasting political ideology between PAS and DAP is always to be taken into consideration. Can these parties with different ideologies and goals get together to form a good government?

Theory of RAHMAAN- Anwar the 6th PM

If the pronunciation of Rahman is Rahmaan, then Anwar should become the next Prime Minister. Otherwise Najib should be the one.

If A is for Anwar, then N could be Najib, Nik Aziz, Nurul Izzah, Nasaruddin Md Isa, or even DAP – Ngieh?

According to Kwong Wah Yit Poh, the best selling paper in Penang, Anwar Ibarhim in an exclusive interview said that RAHMAN should be spelled as RAHMAAN because the Arabic pronunciation of Rahman should be Rahmaan (double-a).

Rahman is the transliteration of an Arabic given name رحمن that comes from the triconsonantal root R--M, meaning benevolent. In Islam, the name الرحمن is considered one of the 99 Names of God.

It is believed that the RAHMAN Theory which foretells that the first seven Prime Ministers of Malaysia ‘must’ follow the alphabets of the word RAHMAN:

R = Tunku Abdul Rahman (1st PM)
A = Abdul Razak Hussein (2nd PM)
H = Hussein Onn (3rd PM)

M = Mahathir (4th PM)
A = Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (5th PM)

A = Anwar (6th PM)

N = Najib (7th PM)

Hence it is clear therefore that why Anwar is so obsessed with the spelling of the word.

Hamzah: "Anwar Ibrahim harassed my wife"

Anwar Ibrahim is being accused of sodomy and now, being a womanizer. It is interesting to note that of all opposition leaders, why Anwar is the only one to be accused of moral wrongdoings. Not once but a few times.

N
ik Aziz, Hadi Awang, Lim Kit Siang and Karpal had been arch political enemies of Barisan Nasional longer than Anwar, but so far we do not hear any nasty stories about them.

To be accused of sexual misconduct is a serious matter especially for top politicians who aspire to be leaders of the rakyat. Just imagine a Prime Minister who preaches the people, especially the young generation, to be good morally but he himself does the contrary.

Of course, we have also heard so many stories about sexually-corrupt leaders being blackmailed by foreign powers to be their political slaves.

O
n 19 August 2008, Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin had been quoted by Kwong Wah Jit Poh newspaper as saying that Anwar had in 1998 tried to take advantage of his wife even though they were best of friends then.

He told the newspaper that Anwar had "kacau" his wife. Therefore, he thinks that the voters should not vote for Anwar in the coming Permatang Pauh by-election.

In view of this, Anwar has demanded an apology from Hamzah within forty-eight (48) hours or face a RM10 million lawsuit.

It has been reported that Hamzah declined and instead challenged Anwar to proceed with his libel suit.

How interesting if the court proceeding is held before the by-election. We certainly want to hear the details of what actually happened. Surely Hamzah has some proofs in his sleeves to be revealed to the court.

The best leader is caring leader

It turns out that the best leader is caring leader.

Malaysia free from corruption

Are we capable of building a corruption-free society?

The social cultural landscape of Malaysia must itself be intolerant to corruption.

The country’s political culture should be free from riddled with ethnic bigotry, bribery, deceit, and the leaders are insatiable hunger for power.

Guan Eng slammed PKR's Zulkifli no different from Umno

Pakatan Rakyat faced its first internal crisis after only five months in power. The crisis might affect the cooperation between DAP and PKR. The deeper the crisis, the more different of the parties came into conflict with each other and finally collapse of the Pakatan Rakyat.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today slammed his fellow Pakatan Rakyat MP Zulkifli Noordin for bad attitude, putting the latter in the same boat as arch-rival Umno.

"It is very disappointing for him, coming from a multiracial party like PKR to speak at this level," Lim told reporters at the Parliament lobby. "Sometimes we see these remarks are no different from Umno."

Zulkifli, in the doghouse for taking part in a rowdy protest against a recent Bar Council forum to discuss legal issues related to the conversion to Islam, got into more trouble with his opposition colleagues yesterday.

During a parliamentary session, the PKR MP for Kulim had accused Chong Eng (DAP-Bukit Mertajam) of being a 'racist', claiming that she had tried to portray the Muslims who protested the Bar Council event as aggressive and irrational.

Lim, who is also Penang chief minister, said Zulkifli should be aware that he represented PKR, a multiracial party unlike Umno which accepted only Malay and bumiputera members.

Lim reiterated that Chong was not a racist, otherwise she would not have received so much support from her Malay constituents during the March general election.

Nevertheless he added the DAP would not seek a reprimand from the House. Stressing Pakatan unity, Lim said his party would leave the matter with the PKR leadership.

"There is no point (bringing this up in the House) because I think PKR has taken their stand, and their stand is similar to ours. So there's no point for us to bring it up. Let PKR handle this matter."

Lim Guan Eng revealing half facts

Former chief minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said, “I want to clarify that at that time, Arif Shah was not a director or shareholder in the company. There may be an attempt to tie this up with him and that is not fair,” adding that Lim Guan Eng was revealing “half facts”.

He said, its Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim intervened in a share purchase deal of a state-owned company 10 years ago resulting in the state suffering a loss of RM9mil.

Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said Business Focus Sdn Bhd (BFSB) which was owned by the Penang Development Corporation, bought the shares of Penang Shipping Corporation for RM29mil, Dr Koh told a press conference at a hotel in Seberang Jaya yesterday.

BFSB, however could not pay up on time and Anwar, who was deputy prime minister and finance minister at that time, instructed Penang state government to extend the payment period. The company ultimately only paid up RM20mil.

“When the company first defaulted in 1998, we wanted to take action but Anwar intervened. He asked us to give chance because of the economic crisis.

“He said the company would be getting contracts from the Government and more businesses, so they would be able to pay.”

“When instructions came from higher up, we renegotiated based on trust because Anwar, as DPM and finance minister, would have had a bigger picture of the company’s potential,” Dr Koh said.

He said BFSB was supposed to have paid up within two years but defaulted in 1998. The company defaulted again in 2003; the state “came down hard” on the company.

“When we took legal action to wind up the company, we had only collected RM20mil,” he said.

PAS abandons gambling and restricts alcohol plan

The fear among Malaysian non-Muslim toward Islam definitely worsened when conservative Islamic party PAS has shelved a proposal to ban gambling and restrict alcohol sales in Penang, Perak, Kedah and Selangor.

Non-Muslim especially Chinese and Indian concerned over rising "Islamisation" of the country. The extreme stereotypes of PAS’s fundamentalist approach as a political strategy fails to take into account the multi-faceted complexity of those Islamic groups as well as the non-Muslim.

It creates unnecessary tension for all concerned thus drawn into controversy and jeopardizes the good tradition of Malaysian unity that has long existed. No Malaysian in their right mind wants to live peacefully with hateful radical extremist folks.

It is a wise decision that conservative Islamic party PAS has shelved a proposal to ban gambling and restrict alcohol sales in the four states-Penang, Perak, Kedah and Selangor, which rules with its political allies.

Mohamad Daud Iraqi, head of the PAS Islamic scholars group, has said the four other opposition-held states - Penang, Perak, Kedah and Selangor which surrounds the capital - should emulate Kelantan's Islamic laws.

"For starters, states under the opposition alliance can reduce the number of gambling premises as gambling is strictly prohibited by all religions,"

In Kelantan, which PAS rules in its own right, it has banned gambling, restricted the sale of alcohol and requires men and women to queue in separate lines at shops.

Kelantan authorities periodically hit the headlines with attempts to ban women from wearing heavy make-up, skimpy clothes and high heels.

Making love is the cause of pregnancy

Marriage of convenience without making love is the cause of no pregnancy. How long can the marriage last? The consequences of marriage of convenience are thus divorce.

The DAP-led Pakatan government in Penang has come under fire from Penang PAS for not including the Islamic party in the state's decision-making process.

Penang delegate Mohd Fahmi Abdul Wahab said after four months in power, the state government has yet to include them in any discussions.

Speaking at the second day of 54th PAS muktamar in Ipoh, the Penang delegate Penang delegate Mohd Fahmi Abdul Wahab used marriage as an analogy to describe the state government’s relationship with PAS.

"We feel very lost because after four months, we feel like we have been sleeping outside the house. But if they want to show us their sympathy, asking us to sleep on the couch will do.

"When we are married, our siblings often ask us, 'how come after four months of marriage, you are still not pregnant? "How can we, when we are not even allowed to touch each other's hands?" asked Mohd Fahmi.

"To be honest, Penang (state government) has never called us to sit together and to officially discuss where Pakatan in this state is heading," Mohd Fahmi said, adding that before Pakatan even existed, PAS had 16 seats to contest in Penang

"But after our party leaders agreed on less seats based on our mutual understanding, during the previous general election, our seats were reduced to only five.

"Even though (we had sacrificed our seats), we are still searching for the real meaning of 'Pakatan'," lamented Mohd Fahmi.

However, the delegate said Penang PAS would support Pakatan de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim during the Permatang Pauh by-election which will take place on Sept 26.
